Majolica Majorca Aurora Tear Liner (Pink & Blue)

This is the latest limited edition glitter eyeliner from Majolica Majorca.

I haven't seen these in stores in Singapore yet (haven't visited the Watson's at Wisma though), but I got them in Taiwan at NT350 each (SGD15).

It comes in 2 colors - pink & blue.

The glitters in the liners aren't really the 'solid' kind of glitters you see in the more common glitter liners like those in gold or silver. They are the type that look kind of 'translucent', but sparkle like crazy and change colors when seen at different angles under lights.

They can be used as normal liner or applied to the eyelashes for that additional sparkle. Personally, I don't like putting glitter on my eyelashes as it looks like glue, or worse, looks like I put on mascara base and has forgotten to wear black mascara (as glitter kind of look whitish on lashes).

I find that these liners look best when drawn at the lower lash line, to create that lovely 'tearing' effect. Okok, I know what you are thinking! Nope I don't want to look like I am crying, what I mean is that the glitter makes the eyes look more watery (in the nice sort of way) and sparkly, the effect you get when you wear contact lenses. Like in Chinese '水旺旺的眼睛' =p

As the base color is clear, I swatch them over black eyeliner so that the colors come out better. The colors don't look really that different just by looking at the tube, but luckily, they are quite different once I try using them.

In my opinion, blue looks cooler, so is more suitable for smokey eyes. Probably will look great with grey and dark green eyeshadow etc. Pink is much sweeter and will be great for romantic looks. I can imagine wearing it with pink and brown eyeshadow.

I think the glitter is quite lasting for me, still can see the glitter after 3-4 hours, though I think will probably need to touch up if you want to wear it for the whole day. I need to draw a few layers to bring out that really glittery effect. The drying time seems faster than normal glitter liners - like I still dare to blink my eyes right after application.

Majolica Majorca Pressed Pore Cover 2011 Limited Edition, SGD33.90

This is a finishing powder after power/liquid/mousse/cream foundation. It was launched together with the Sugary Trap Collection, which you can see swatches and read how I feel about that collection here and also a related makeup tutorial here .

This is the product description on the pamplet:

"Cover pores and leaves skin smooth and fluffy soft like candy, comes with a limited edition case. Cover pores and imperfections in just one application."

Indeed, the powder gives a transparent finish and is very fine milled. Although the compact powder color looks very light, but the finishing is actually transparent, so even girls with darker skin tone can use it. When you finish using the powder, you can just purchase the refill (can't remember price though).

Why you should buy this:

1) Limited edition casing! Very pretty... I much prefer the green to the original casing which is black.

2) Provides a very smooth finish, and really seems to cover pores well

3) Very light texture, which allows layering, without making the face appear whiter and whiter

4) Good for touch ups

Why you might want to think again:

1) Oil control power is average. Shine on my T-tone after 1.5 hour of application.

2) Almost nil coverage (can't cover pimples and stuff)

I applied it thickly for photo above, so you can see the color is slightly whitish. It is almost transparent if you apply the right amount over face.

I might consider buying the refill after finishing the first one. I must test it further to see whether I like it enough...

Tutorial: Majolica Majorca Sugary Trap Inspired Look

Today's tutorial is an inspired look because I don't think the final result looks exactly the same as the poster below.

As I accidentally 'poked' my eye with the brush while applying eyeshadow, my eye might appear red in some pictures! Hope that won't look too scary! -_-

Palette used - Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes PK330 Strawberry Cake

Left to right, top to bottom: Highlight color- shimmery light pink, Light color- pale pink, Medium color- strawberry pink, Liner color- purplish pink

THE STEPS:

1. Apply the shimmery light pink under the brow bow area.

2. Using an eyeshadow brush, apply the pale pink to the inner crease. It is ok to pat on more color.

3. Apply the strawberry pink to the outer crease.

4. Using a small blending brush, apply the purplish pink to the outer corner, using circular motions, as shown (I hope) in the photos above.

5. Apply the same purple pink to the lower lash line, concentrating on the outer corner.

6. Line your upper lash line with a reddish brown eyeliner. If you want a more smoky effect, use a sponge and smudge the liner at the outer corner. I didn't smudge the color here. The line shouldn't be thick, as a thick line will make the eye appear smaller (as you can't see the crease anymore).

7. Line the 3/4 of the lower lash line as well. The line should be thicker at the outer corner, and thinner as you line towards the inner corner. It will be better to line the waterline as well.

8. Apply the shimmery light pink to the inner corner of the lower lash line. Finish off with mascara/ false lashes.

9. To intensify the sweetness of the look, apply lip tint. Apply a sweet pink lip gloss to the middle of lips to create lollipop-like glossy lips.

DONE!

Colors much more intense in real life

Whenever you apply pink eyeshadow, it is important to draw eyeliner and apply mascara as well. If you don't do so, your eyes might appear swollen, or worse, looks like someone just punched you in the eye! =D

I can NEVER say no to pink make up. So what happens when Majolica Majorca decides to come out with a collection of pink eyeshadow and blusher? I GET ALL OF THEM (the pinks)!

Jeweling Eyes, PK330 Strawberry Cake, SGD27.50

OMG! All the pinks are irresistible!

The texture of the eyeshadow for this palette is the same as the previous Jeweling Eyes. Quite powdery, not exactly silky. I find it hard to layer the colors on if I use a brush -- finger seems to work better. The colors are more intense when I use my fingers. If you still prefer to use a brush to apply, then using eyeshadow primer will be a good idea.

I find these blushers incredibly sweet. The Peach Macaroon looks coral, but applies quite pink! I recommend these 2 pinks for ladies with fairer skin. They will look really flattering. There is this very Japanese/ Korean feel to them. Those with healthier skin tone should go for OR302 Apricot Macaroon. I feel extremely tempted to get that one as well. The pinks are slightly shimmery, but you can't really tell after you have applied them. The texture makes it easy to layer the colors on, but I am not sure about the lasting power yet -- I will find out tomorrow.

NOTE: My new camera phone has decided to intensify the colors of these 2 blushers. I think they are less pink in real life. But then, I applied quite a bit of product for the swatches above.

Cream Pencil Liner, BR611 Mocha Brown, SGD14.50

Reddish brown matches very well with Jeweling Eyes PK330

I much prefer the texture of this eyeliner to the Jeweling Pencil, which I didn't like at all, as I felt that the lasting power was weak. The texture of this new liner is much creamier, and seems to be smudge proof. Color is intense was I draw a line across the back of my hand. If the lasting power is good, I would consider getting the black, since SGD14.50 is very affordable.

All in all, I am very satisfied with this collection, most probably because of the lovely colors. Texture wise, given the medium price tag, I don't have complains.

Anyway, I got all these at a 20% discount. Watson's is having a promotion at the Tampines Mall exhibition square. I am glad I was at Tampines today! According to the SA, the promotion ends this Sunday. I saw this collection selling at other Watson's as well, but without the discount.

LOTD: Korean Drama My Princess Inspired Outfit + Hair

As today I am going to watch the last episode of the Korean drama My Princess, I was really in a My Princess mood this morning.

Sadly, I do not look like beauty Kim Tae Hee in any way, but today I picked an outfit that was close to the feel I got from her dressing in My Princess. If I could, I would have picked a lacy cotton tank for the top (unfortunately, not suitable for work)/ a sleeveless lace shirt.

To show the skirt's swir-li-ness, I tried swirling in front of my MacBook, not to much success, as you can see...

I completed the look with a pair of off white round toe heels.

Hey! My hair is about the same length as Kim Tae Hee in My Princess~

In the show, Kim Tae Hee usually pins her fringe up; but as mine is still short, I kept it down.

As for make up, I wanted some contrast with my dark colored outfit, so I chose a bright eyeshadow palette, Majolica Majorca Majolook eye shadow palette PK740. I applied the pink to the outer crease, and silverish blue/ purple to the inner crease. Then I tight-lined my upper lash line with brown pencil eyeliner, and went over the line with the brownish red eye shadow from the palette. I lined 3/4 of my lower lash line with the same brown after that. I then finished off with lots of black mascara. In order for your eye look to be really striking, you must use lots of black mascara when you apply pink eye shadow!

My lashes look kind of crappy now, as some are still curled and some already straight, after the 3D eye lash perm I did in Hong Kong last December
